The Frequency International Festival of Digital Culture makes a welcome return to Lincoln 26-29 October 2023, and we are we are eager to gain insights from artists, technologists, producers, and creatives about post-pandemic digital practices.

The creative and cultural agency behind Frequency Festival, Threshold Studios, are conducting a national Artists and Creatives Survey 2022 is to research and better understand the current needs and barriers facing artists and creatives in relation to technology and socially engaged practice. After a year of isolation and disconnection, Frequency 2021 offered an opportunity to explore outdoor public spaces once more, to be surprised and delighted and to reconnect safely with the city and each other. The biennial festival offered online and real-world encounters as it celebrated 10 years of bringing inventive digital culture into Lincoln’s historic city.

Frequency Festival 2021: Connection Meet a 9-meter inflatable robot snail, explore AR technology showing pollution in real-time and hear 3D immersive sound from streets around the world.
JUST ANNOUNCED: DIGITAL DEMOCRACIES MASTERCLASS #3 DIY LIGHT
This free online session on Wednesday 18 August, 1pm-4pm (BST) is led by light artist Thomas Buckley, who will introduce participants to the basics of hacking, breaking, and inventing things, exploring themes of scale, surface, and working in a way that’s accessible.
Care(Less)
Care(less) (2019) is a highly original immersive 360-degree VR film by artist Lindsay Seers. The work uses the hallucinatory quality of VR technology to convey an embodied experience of what it is to be in an ageing body. This OPCARE artist commission responds to new research by the University of Birmingham, University of Brighton and University of Lincoln, supported by the Wellcome Trust Enrichment Fund, into the experiences of older people receiving care they pay for themselves. The installation is part of an ongoing exploration around the ethics of care, in partnership with Fabrica gallery, Ikon Gallery, and Frequency Festival. FREQUENCY International Festival of Digital Culture - a digital festival for everyone - returned to Lincoln last month, transforming the city’s rhythm over four days with a festival programme that captured imaginations, challenged perceptions and inspired change.
