Annabel McCourt – Electric Fence

9 October, 2019

Borders, barriers and warning signs have come to be a part of our everyday life, but are we being kept out, or is something being kept in?

A bold, visceral confrontation, this thought-provoking installation appears ‘live’, providing a powerful and macabre reminder of our own latent potential. Stark and unforgettable, The Electric Fence awaits you….

UK artist Annabel McCourt has a diverse portfolio with work ranging from lens-based gritty social-realism, through to installation art, moving image and architectural interventions, inspired by fact, folklore & legend.

The Electric Fence, originally commissioned by Hull 2017 UK City of Culture, is currently touring with the support of renowned UK-based international curator Simon Hedges.

In Spring 2020, The Collection and Usher Gallery are excited to present a solo show of works by Annabel McCourt. In the lead up to this exhibition, Annabel is inviting the public to join her to find out more about her practice, contribute stories to the Electric Fence and even get the chance to become part of the installation.

Electric Fence Workshop is taking place on Saturday 26 October, 1pm-3pm at The Collection as part of Frequency Festival 2019.

This workshop is a unique opportunity for the Frequency audience to uncover and explore their own ‘Fence’.

Places are limited, booking essential.
