From October 2023, Lincoln once again played host to Frequency Festival, welcoming artists, creative technologists and audiences from across the city and beyond for four days of digital art, culture and immersive experiences.
Frequency Festival continues to be a key moment in Lincoln’s cultural calendar, renowned for transforming the city through digital commissions presented in a mix of indoor and outdoor locations. The 2023 programme invited audiences to encounter digital works that blurred the boundaries between art, technology and everyday life, encouraging exploration, play and reflection across a wide range of formats and settings.
The 2023 festival explored the emergence of digital art and its growing influence on society. Across the programme, audiences were invited to interact with artificial intelligence, question the relationship between humans and machines, and reflect on the ethical and cultural implications of emerging technologies. The festival created space for curiosity, debate and discovery, offering both playful and thought-provoking experiences for all ages.
To reflect the evolving nature of digital culture and the diverse audiences it reaches, the programme was presented across four days, each offering a distinct focus. The opening night brought together artists, technologists, business leaders and cultural partners to celebrate the start of the festival and the creative possibilities at the intersection of art and technology.
