The Fabratory is an a family-friendly space at Frequency, bursting with workshops and activities for young curious minds.

Come along to our pop-up space on Cornhill and get stuck-in with fun STEM related workshops and activities for ages 5 and up. Build fantastic Lego WeDo models with JuniorStem, then learn to program sensors, motors and lights to bring them to life. Play interactive games and compete with your friends in a Driverless Car Challenge by Siemens. Make your own artworks and transport your creations into a virtual exhibition using the latest digital scanning techniques. And join award-winning social enterprise Stemettes for a fun and inspiring workshop for girls.

In the Fabratory there’s always something new to explore, with a changing daily programme of fun things to do, suitable for ages 5 and up.

The Fabratory at Frequency 2019 is bought to you in partnership with Siemens.

HACK THE RIDE

STEMETTES

Stemettes will give a glimpse into making in this fun and inspiring workshop in The Fabratory. Young women are invited to drop in and get involved in imagining and designing better future cities…and rollercoasters!

Suitable for ages five and up. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

DRIVERLESS CAR CHALLENGE

SIEMENS

Play interactive games and compete with your friends in a Driverless Car Challenge in The Fabratory. Official sponsors of The Fabratory, Siemens, are bringing interactive technology and augmented reality games to inspire the next generation of engineering talent. Learn how to code to navigate a driverless buggy around a map. You can also compete to get the top score of the day! Suitable for ages eight and up.

Driverless Car Challenge Workshops: 11am-11:40am  /  12pm-12:40pm / 1pm-1:40pm  / 2pm-2:40pm  / 3pm-3:40pm (Booking advised)

Drop-in augmented reality games and activities from 11am-4pm are suitable for all ages.

SATURDAY 26 OCTOBER

RISE OF THE ROBOTS: THE DIGITAL AGE

JUNIOR STEM

Build a fantastic robotic lego model, then learn to program sensors, motors and lights to bring your creations to life. No experience necessary.

Workshop times:

AM: 11am-1pm  (Drop-in session, no booking required)

PM: 2pm-3:15pm  (Bookable session)

Booking info:

Limited tickets available, book your space on the afternoon workshops for £2 per ticket* and Pay What You Decide** after taking part. 

Suitable for ages 5 to 11. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

SUNDAY 27 OCTOBER

11AM – 3.30PM

VR WORKSHOP

DERBY QUAD

Join the Derby QUAD team for a fun and free family-friendly workshop. Make and craft artworks, then experiment with the latest in digital scanning techniques to put creations into our virtual exhibition.

VR Workshops:

AM: 11am-1pm (limited tickets available)

PM: 1:30pm-3:30pm (limited tickets available)

Suitable for ages 5 to 11. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Booking info:

Limited tickets available, book your space on either workshop for £2 per ticket* and Pay What You Decide** after taking part.

Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your workshop start time to register. If you are running late please contact us on events@frequency.org.uk, otherwise your session is at risk of being opened up to other attendees.

*As we are a non profit social enterprise, ticket prices are set to cover the budget of putting on the event, enabling us to keep costs as low as we can for our attendees. Unfortunately we are unable to offer discounts on pre-booked tickets.

**You simply book your tickets in the normal way (£2 per ticket to reserve your space) and then leave a donation of whatever you feel the workshop was worth after taking part.

Adults do not need to book a ticket to accompany a child/children on the workshop.
