The Frequency 2026 programme is here!

22 January, 2026

We can finally say it: the programme for Frequency Festival 2026 has been confirmed, and it’s bursting with illuminated and interactive fun for all the family. It comes with a disclaimer…we may well be adding even more delights over the next few weeks but for now, here’s what’s in store…

Fire, foxes and flights

This year’s programme dives deep into spectacle, storytelling and hands-on fun. Highlights include:

Lincoln Castle transformed by fire – returning artists ITHACA Studio will unveil a brand-new immersive experience created especially for Frequency. They will bring the castle’s dragon’s to life with a thrilling spectacle of light and sound.

A journey across Lincolnshire in light and sound – William Lindley’s Drift connects Lincoln with the coast, fens and wolds through a layered moving-image projection, with an atmospheric soundscape filling St Mary Le Wigford Church.

The fox and the otter return – inspired by the viral 2025 CCTV footage, Lumo Workshop’s walkabout performance brings two unlikely night-time explorers back onto Lincoln’s streets.

Light behaving like nature – Limbic Cinema’s Circa is a large-scale touring light sculpture that explores how light moves, reacts and transforms.

A bar that makes beats – Serving Sounds, created by Working Boys Club, turns a pop-up bar into playful, hands-on music-making machines.

Cube-creatures in Cornhill Market – 4 Bit Playground by Pather & Johnston features autonomous kinetic cubes that respond to visitors – and to each other.

Step inside a video game – award-winning company DARKFIELD brings ARCADE, an immersive, interactive experience inspired by 1980s gaming that explores the evolving relationship between players and avatars.

Stories hidden in the city – FlightPaths by Electric Egg is an immersive installation  created as part of a collaborative process between artists Electric Egg and the children of Westgate Academy Primary School. It explores the themes of home and journeys and looks at the contribution of international aircrew in ‘Bomber County’ during the Second World War. Visitors can then also follow an audio and video trail through Lincoln, and experience stories of servicemen and women from former colonies who served in the Lincolnshire area during the Second World War.

Taking place from Thursday 19 to Saturday 21 February 2026, from Lincoln Cathedral and Lincoln Castle to the High Street, City Square, Cornhill and surrounding streets, Frequency will showcase the beautiful city of Lincoln in new ways. Wrap up warm, get your glow on and we look forward to seeing you there!
