Artist Focus 32: Sunshine Gray

15 October, 2013

Digital sound artist Sunshine Gray has created and curated various multimedia installations exploring the crossing between sound, technology and theatre. Her practice celebrates the stretch of technology, from analogue to digital and her installations have been presented in diverse venues, starting from a medieval undercroft to a men’s grooming salon. Her experience as a recording musician in the 70s/80s has informed her work as an artist and inspired her to delve into the intersection between theatre, technology and sound.

SNAP

Composed specifically for the Cholrton Arts Festival, SNAP is an audio composition and prepared-space installation where the audience is allowed to enter and leave at will. Experiencing a soundscape using analogue camera equipment as well as vintage photographs that comprise visual elements, the audience takes in the sounds heard for as much time as they like while looking at the display of photos.
